Vehicle servicing centre refurbishment for Surrey Police at Crawley Down

Overview

Carmelcrest were appointed to deliver the refurbishment of Surrey Police’s vehicle servicing centre at Crawley Down. The scheme involved a comprehensive programme of works including fabric improvements, a new internal fit out, and full M&E installations. A key element of the project was the integration of low-carbon technologies to support the Police’s sustainability objectives.

Challenges

The centre remained operational throughout the works, with police technicians continuing to carry out vehicle servicing activities on site. This required careful coordination and phasing to ensure safety, minimise disruption and maintain continuity of essential police operations.

Our Approach

Carmelcrest worked closely with Surrey Police to programme works around the operational requirements of the facility. Upgrades included the installation of air source heat pumps and energy-efficient glazing systems, alongside improvements to building fabric and services. Strict segregation, robust safety measures, and clear communication with site users ensured works progressed smoothly in the live environment.
