Carmelcrest were engaged to deliver a refurbishment project at TWI’s facility within Granta Science Park, one of the UK’s leading hubs for science and innovation. The scheme included the strip out and refurbishment of both laboratory and office spaces, providing upgraded, modernised environments to support the client’s specialist operations.
The works were undertaken within a live, occupied building, requiring careful planning and phasing to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing business activity. In addition, the project demanded coordination around the delivery and installation of specialist laboratory equipment, with services and layouts tailored to support technical requirements.
Carmelcrest undertook the strip out and refurbishment of existing spaces, followed by the integration of new finishes, services, and infrastructure suitable for high-performance laboratory use. M&E systems were upgraded to meet the demands of specialist equipment, and works were carefully sequenced to align with the client’s programme for equipment installation. Close collaboration with TWI’s team ensured that operational needs were met while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
The project was delivered successfully, providing TWI with upgraded laboratory and office environments that support research, innovation, and day-to-day operations. It highlights Carmelcrest’s expertise in delivering complex refurbishments within live science and technology facilities.
