Carmelcrest were appointed to design and construct a new standalone toilet block at Lagoon Beach, Southend-on-Sea. The facility was developed to improve amenities for visitors and formed part of the Council’s investment in upgrading the seafront environment.
The building combined traditional coastal colours, reflecting the heritage of the seafront, with a modern architectural style that complements the surrounding landscape. All fixtures and fittings were selected with durability and ease of maintenance in mind, featuring anti-vandal specifications to withstand heavy public use.
To minimise disruption to tourists and visitors, Carmelcrest utilised off-site prefabrication methods. The structure was manufactured and assembled under controlled conditions before being transported and installed on site. This approach enabled a quicker, smoother installation and reduced the environmental and social impact of the works.
