Accelerated refurbishment of Neuro Theatres at Addenbrooke’s Hospital

Overview

Carmelcrest were selected to deliver the refurbishment of Neuro Theatres at Addenbrookes Hospital, a high-profile and operationally critical project for the Trust. The required completion within a very short programme window to ensure continuity of patient care and surgical capacity.

Scope of Works

The scheme involved the removal of specialist laboratory furniture, existing finishes, and selected loadbearing walls to enable the creation of a new layout. Carmelcrest installed new partitions, finishes, fixtures, and fittings, along with specialist surgical and research equipment tailored to the operational requirements of the theatres.

Challenges & Approach

The accelerated programme was a key challenge, requiring careful sequencing of works, extended hours, and proactive supply chain management. Working within a live hospital environment also demanded strict segregation, infection control procedures and close liaison with clinical teams to ensure safety and minimise disruption.
