Carmelcrest were appointed by Hammersmith & Fulham Council to deliver the pioneering Nourish Hub, a flagship community project with a strong emphasis on social value creation. The scheme transformed five disused retail units on a busy high street into a vibrant community kitchen and learning space.
The works included significant structural modifications to the dilapidated retail units, followed by a full renovation and fit out. This comprised M&E services, a modern architectural interior, and the installation of new commercial catering equipment. The finished space provides a fully functional kitchen alongside flexible areas for teaching and community activities.
The Nourish Hub was designed as a place where residents and community groups can come together to learn cooking and self-sufficiency skills, improving wellbeing and resilience within the local area. The project generated more than £400,000 in measured social value, reflecting not only the economic benefits but also the lasting social impact on the community.
Delivered to a high standard, the Nourish Hub stands as a landmark example of construction driving positive social change. The facility continues to play a vital role in bringing people together, enhancing skills, and building stronger communities.
