Carmelcrest were appointed to deliver a major refurbishment project at Mount Browne, Surrey Police’s headquarters. The scheme required extensive structural and layout modifications alongside a full internal refurbishment, transforming the facility to support modern policing needs while respecting its operational and historical significance.
The building remained occupied throughout, housing critical teams including the emergency call centre. This meant zero disruption to police operations was essential. Additionally, the site included a police museum containing historic artefacts of significant value, all of which required protection throughout the works. Security was also a central consideration, with strict vetting and access protocols to safeguard sensitive areas.
Carmelcrest implemented robust control measures to ensure continuity of services, including careful phasing, segregation, and close liaison with operational teams. Artefacts in the police museum were safeguarded through protective coverings, environmental controls, and restricted access protocols. Security was prioritised, with all staff and suppliers undergoing Non Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) clearance before being permitted on site.
The project was successfully delivered without disruption to live police operations. Surrey Police headquarters now benefit from modernised facilities, reconfigured layouts, and upgraded infrastructure, delivered to the highest standards of safety, security, and care.
